Reflexology
in Dunstable, Reflexology in Leighton Buzzard for Back Neck & Shoulders
Strong painkilling tablets, physiotherapy for which there is often a waiting list and cortisone injections are conventional treatments for back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain.
Ease Pain
You may be surprised to hear that even one reflexology treatment may ease pain and increase movement to start the healing process. Depending on the severity of the condition a couple of weekly treatments followed by fortnightly treatments could ease the problem considerably if not completely.
What Results Can You Expect
The result achievable depends on the general health and attitude of the individual. For example a young mum suffering from sciatica following birth may have total relief from symptoms, whereas a man of 75 with degeneration of the lumbar spine may achieve some relief.
How Reflexology Works
Reflexology works by encouraging the body to heal itself by sending impulses to the brain through the nerve reflexes. The brain and spinal cord make up the central nervous system or CNS. The brain is protected by the skull and the spinal cord is protected by the vertebrae. There are 7 vertebrae in the neck, 12 in the thoracic spine and 5 in the lumbar spine. The body has an intricate network of nerves which connect to the whole body from the brain and spinal cord.
Back Symptoms may be due to a connected body part
When there is an imbalance or dis-ease detected in a part or organ of the body, there is often an imbalance felt in the spinal reflex of the feet where that organ or part of the body connects to the spinal cord, which may be detected during a thorough reflexology session. The imbalance may be apparent due to a difference in the tissue on the corresponding part of the foot and may or may not be accompanied by back or neck pain.
